    TouchPoint and Volty

Newcomers ask about small groups and members ask for their giving total, and Volty answers from TouchPoint's people, groups and contributions, handing each guest to a group leader.

    What Volty does with TouchPoint

TouchPoint is the church management software mid to large churches run their people, groups, registrations and giving on. Our team connects TouchPoint to Volty through its OData API with a token from a user your church sets up for it, so Volty sees only what that user can. A newcomer asks how to join a small group and Volty finds one that fits from TouchPoint, and members asking about their giving get the answer from their own record.

    • A group that fits

Volty filters small groups by meeting day, campus and life stage and offers two or three with room.

    • Newcomers handed to a leader

A guest who picks a group is passed to its leaders, who add them in TouchPoint.

    • Giving statements

Contributions for the year are summed from the member's record when they ask.

    • Only the member's own record

Volty matches the member by a confirmed phone or email before it reads any contributions.

    How Volty connects to TouchPoint

TouchPoint documents an OData API for reading records and a separate Push Post API for writing contributions. Volty uses the read side, with a token your church controls.

    1. 01

      Create an API user

Your church gives a TouchPoint user the Developer and APIOnly roles, limited to what Volty should see.

    2. 02

      Generate a Personal Access Token

That user creates the token, with an expiry date if you want one.

    3. 03

      Approve in Volty

Our team builds the custom connection and an admin approves it once.

    4. 04

      Check the switches

Each tool can be On, Check with staff, or Off.

    The tools Volty gets

Each one is a switch on the Sources page in Volty.

    • Find a personReads
    • Find groups by day and campusReads
    • Read contributionsReads
    • Read pledges and fundsReads
    • Read meetingsReads

Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes TouchPoint starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

How does Volty authenticate to TouchPoint?

With a Personal Access Token created by a TouchPoint user your church sets up for the purpose, given the Developer and APIOnly roles. Volty reads through TouchPoint's OData API, so it sees what that user can. You can set an expiry on the token and revoke it, and an admin approves the connection in Volty once.

Will Volty add guests or change group rosters in TouchPoint?

No. TouchPoint's documented write API covers contributions, and Volty does not use it. When a newcomer picks a small group, Volty passes them to the group's leaders in the chat, and the leaders or the office add the person in TouchPoint as they do today.

Can members get a year-to-date giving total for taxes?

Yes. Volty reads the member's contributions through the OData API and gives the total for the year with the date of the last gift. It matches the member by a confirmed phone or email first, and the formal year-end statement still comes from your office.

How much does it cost to connect TouchPoint with Volty?

Every Volty plan includes seats, active contacts and AI credits and starts with a free 7-day trial, and the plan prices are on voltade.com/pricing. Meta bills message charges separately for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
