    How Volty connects to NationBuilder

    NationBuilder's V2 API follows the JSON:API spec and uses V2 access tokens. Our team builds the custom connection against your nation, and an admin approves it once in Volty.

      We check with you that your nation can issue V2 tokens and which people it should cover.

      Issue a V2 token

      A test token from Settings, Developer, API token lasts 24 hours. The live connection uses the OAuth flow NationBuilder documents.

      Signups, signup taggings, donations, events and event RSVPs, as you agree.

      An admin approves the connection. Creating signups and RSVPs starts Off.

    Common questions

    Which NationBuilder API does Volty use?

    The V2 API, which follows the JSON:API spec. A test token can be made in the control panel under Settings, Developer, API token, and it expires after 24 hours, so the live connection uses the OAuth flow NationBuilder documents for V2 tokens. An admin in your Volty workspace approves the connection once before it is used.

    Can a donor get their giving total for the year?

    Yes. Volty reads the donations attached to that supporter's signup and adds them up for the year asked. It only does this once it has matched the person to a signup by a confirmed email or phone, and it can ask your team to send the formal receipt.

    Will Volty add tags to people in our nation?

    Only if you switch that tool on. Volty can create a signup and add signup taggings such as volunteer or a neighborhood. The tool starts Off. On Check with staff, each new signup and its tags wait for a colleague to approve them in the chat.
