    Rock RMS and Volty

Rock churches host their own server, and Volty connects to its REST API to answer retreat, group and serving questions and draft registrations for staff to approve.

What Volty does with Rock RMS

Rock RMS is the open-source relationship management system churches run their people, groups, events and giving on. Because each church hosts its own Rock, our team connects Volty to your server's REST API with a REST Key your Rock admin creates and secures. People ask whether the retreat has room or how to serve at the pantry, and Volty reads the event or the serving team and drafts the next step for staff.

    • Spots left, from registration

Cost, dates and remaining capacity come from the Rock event registration.

    • Serving teams by name

An offer to help becomes a connection request for that team's leader.

    • Rock security still applies

The REST Key only reaches what its Rock security permissions allow.

    • Registrations need a yes

Volty drafts the registration. A staff member approves it in Volty.

    As an automation

How Volty connects to Rock RMS

Rock exposes a REST API on your own Rock site at /api, and every call carries a REST Key. Your Rock admin creates the key and grants it security, and our team connects Volty to your server with it.

    1. 01

      Create a REST Key

A Rock admin creates a new REST authorization token under Home > Security > REST Keys.

    2. 02

      Grant it security

Add Rock security permissions to the key for people, groups and event registrations, and nothing else.

    3. 03

      Make the server reachable

Your Rock site must answer API calls over HTTPS from the internet.

    4. 04

      Approve, then choose switches

An admin approves the connection in Volty. Registrations and connection requests start Off.

    The tools Volty gets

Each one is a switch on the Sources page in Volty.

    • Find person in RockReads
    • Read event registration and capacityReads
    • Look up serving teamReads
    • Add registrationChanges
    • Create connection requestChanges

Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes Rock RMS starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

Does Volty work with a self-hosted Rock RMS server?

Yes. Every Rock church runs its own site, and Volty talks to that site's REST API. The server needs to answer HTTPS calls from the internet. If your Rock sits behind a firewall with no outside access, our team will talk through options with you before building anything.

What does our Rock admin need to set up?

A REST Key, created in Rock under Home > Security > REST Keys. Rock then needs security permissions added for that key, covering only the people, groups and event registrations Volty will read. The key keeps working until you revoke it, so revoking it is how you cut Volty off.

Can Volty add people to a serving team in Rock?

Volty can create a connection request for the team leader, and that tool starts Off. Set it to Check with staff and a staff member approves each request in Volty before it is written to Rock, so the leader still decides who joins.

How much does it cost to connect Rock RMS with Volty?

Every Volty plan includes seats, active contacts and AI credits and starts with a free 7-day trial, and the plan prices are on voltade.com/pricing. Meta bills message charges separately for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.

Sign up for our 7-day trial. No credit card needed.
