    How Volty connects to Little Green Light

    Little Green Light's API lets other software read and write data in an LGL account, at up to 300 calls per five minutes. An administrator gets the key from Integration Settings.

      Open the LGL API settings

      Go to Settings > Integration Settings > LGL API. During the 30-day free evaluation, complete the short form so LGL turns API access on.

      Hand the key to our team

      We build Volty's connection on it, staying well inside the rate limit.

      Check the fields you need

      Not every LGL field is in the API. If one is missing, LGL support takes requests for more.

      Approve, then set notes

      An admin approves the connection in Volty. Notes and contact preference changes start Off.

    Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes Little Green Light starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

    Can we connect Volty during Little Green Light's free trial?

    Yes, with one extra step. During the 30-day free evaluation, LGL has to switch API access on. Request it at Settings > Integration Settings > LGL API by filling in the short form. Once the key is available, our team builds the connection and a workspace admin approves it.

    Does the LGL API include every field we use?

    Not always. LGL says some fields are not available through its API and takes requests to add them at support@littlegreenlight.com. Before we build, our team checks that the fields Volty needs, such as lifetime giving and mail preferences, are reachable.

    Will Volty slow down our LGL account?

    No. LGL allows 300 API calls every five minutes. A donor lookup or a giving summary takes a handful of calls, and Volty's weekly gift review runs once, so it stays far below that limit even on a busy appeal week.
