    Submittable and Volty

Grant applicants ask whether their submission has been reviewed or when a fund closes, and Volty reads the status and deadline from Submittable and routes eligibility to program officers.

    What Volty does with Submittable

Submittable is grant, application and submissions software that funders, nonprofits and CSR programs run their programs in. Our team connects Volty to Submittable's v4 API with the key your organization finds under More > Integrations > API Access. Applicants ask whether their submission has been reviewed or when a project closes, and Volty reads the submission's status and the project deadline, then routes eligibility questions to a program officer.

    • Status of one submission

In review, accepted or declined, read from the applicant's own submission.

    • Project close dates

Volty checks the Submittable project before quoting a deadline.

    • Scores stay private

Reviewer scores and notes are kept out of the connection.

    • Eligibility is a staff call

Volty assigns the question to the program officer who owns the fund.

    Does our project qualify

Can a church-run food bank apply for the Neighborhood Fund? And when does it close?
Checked SubmittableNeighborhood Fund · open · closes Nov 30
VoltyThe Neighborhood Fund closes on November 30. Whether a church-run food bank qualifies is a question for our program officer, so I've passed it to Daniel Cho and he'll reply here.

    As an automation

Describe it to Volty in a sentence; it drafts the automation and an admin turns it on.

    How Volty connects to Submittable

Submittable's API is on version 4, and each organization has one API key, sent with basic authentication. Our team builds Volty's connection with that key and agrees with you which projects and fields Volty reads.

    1. 01

      Copy the organization's key

Sign in to Submittable and open More > Integrations > API Access to find the API key.

    2. 02

      Name the projects

List the grant programs and fields Volty may read. Reviewer scores and internal notes stay out.

    3. 03

      Grants manager approves

A workspace admin approves the connection before it is used.

    4. 04

      Leave writes off

Volty reads statuses and deadlines. Anything that edits a submission stays Off.

    The tools Volty gets

Each one is a switch on the Sources page in Volty.

    • Find applicant's submissionReads
    • Read submission statusReads
    • Read project deadlineReads
    • List drafts not submittedReads

Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes Submittable starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

Can applicants see reviewer scores or comments through Volty?

No. The connection is built to read the applicant's own submission status and the project's deadline. Reviewer scores, internal notes and other applicants' submissions are left out of the tools our team builds, so Volty has nothing to repeat.

Where does our team find the Submittable API key?

Sign in to Submittable and open More > Integrations > API Access, where the organization's key is shown. Submittable's v4 API takes it as basic authentication. Our team builds Volty's connection with it, and a workspace admin approves the connection once before Volty reads anything.

Does Volty decide whether a project is eligible?

No. Eligibility depends on judgment your program officers make, so Volty answers the factual parts, such as the close date, and assigns the eligibility question to the officer who owns that fund in Volty. The applicant gets the reply in the same thread.

How much does it cost to connect Submittable with Volty?

Every Volty plan includes seats, active contacts and AI credits and starts with a free 7-day trial, and the plan prices are on voltade.com/pricing. Meta bills message charges separately for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.

Sign up for our 7-day trial. No credit card needed.
