Campaign read with a Givebutter API key

    What Volty does with Givebutter

Givebutter is a free fundraising platform for donation pages, events, auctions and a donor CRM. Givebutter offers a free, public API, and our team connects Volty with a key your Givebutter admin creates. Supporters ask whether they need a ticket to bid or whether their two gala tickets went through, and Volty reads the campaign, tickets and transactions to answer.

    • Bid without a ticket

Auction rules and closing time come from the gala campaign.

    • Ticket check

Volty reads the supporter's campaign tickets and purchase date.

    • One contact per supporter

Volty answers about the Givebutter contact matching the person writing in.

    • Last year's guests

Staff ask who came in 2025 and has not bought for 2026.

Describe it to Volty in a sentence; it drafts the automation and an admin turns it on.

    How Volty connects to Givebutter

Givebutter's API is free and public. It authenticates with bearer API keys that a Givebutter admin creates, and covers campaigns, tickets, contacts, transactions, plans and webhooks.

    1. 01

      Create a key for Volty

A Givebutter admin opens Settings, then Developers, then API, and clicks New API key. Name it Volty.

    2. 02

      Copy it once

Givebutter shows the key only once. Pass it to our team over a secure channel.

    3. 03

      Admin approves in Volty

A workspace admin approves the connection before Volty reads anything.

    4. 04

      Retire it when you want

Givebutter shows when each key was last used, and you can delete the Volty key at any time.

    The tools Volty gets

Each one is a switch on the Sources page in Volty.

    • Read campaign and auctionReads
    • Find supporter's ticketsReads
    • Read supporter's transactionsReads
    • List lapsed attendeesReads

Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes Givebutter starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

Does Givebutter charge for API access?

No. Givebutter describes its API as free, open and public. An admin creates as many keys as needed under Settings, then Developers, then API, by clicking New API key. Editors cannot reach that screen. Our team builds Volty's connection on the key, and a workspace admin approves it once.

Can Volty sell gala tickets or take bids?

No. Volty reads campaigns, tickets and transactions and points supporters to your Givebutter campaign page to buy or bid. It can tell someone whether they need a ticket to bid online and confirm a ticket order that already went through.

How do we cut Volty off from Givebutter if we need to?

Givebutter lists each API key with when it was last used, and you can delete a key from the three-dot menu beside it. Deleting the Volty key stops every Volty lookup at once. You can also turn the connection off in Volty.

How much does it cost to connect Givebutter with Volty?

Every Volty plan includes seats, active contacts and AI credits and starts with a free 7-day trial, and the plan prices are on voltade.com/pricing. Meta bills message charges separately for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.

Sign up for our 7-day trial. No credit card needed.
