    Dutchie and Volty

Dispensary customers ask what a store has in stock, whether an item is back and when the store closes, and Volty answers from that store's Dutchie products and inventory and passes order and advice questions to staff.

Volty does not read order status from Dutchie

    What Volty does with Dutchie

Dutchie is the POS, e-commerce and payments platform cannabis dispensaries run their stores and online orders on. Our team connects a store's Dutchie POS to Volty with an API key that Dutchie Support issues for the integration, scoped to the permissions you agree. Customers ask on your web chat or by email what a store carries or whether an item is back, and Volty answers from that store's Dutchie products and inventory, and passes order questions to the store.

    • Order questions to the store

A customer asking whether an order is ready is passed to that store's pickup counter with the order number, and staff answer in the same chat.

    • What a store carries

Products and stock come from the store whose key Volty is using, so another location's menu is never mixed in.

    • Only the customer's own record

Volty reads a customer record only after matching the person through a confirmed email or phone.

    • Product advice to staff

Questions about effects, dosing or use go to a budtender. Volty does not give that advice.

    How Volty connects to Dutchie

Dutchie's POS API keys come from Dutchie Support, are tied to one integration and carry permission scopes. Dutchie's developer terms also require the customer's express permission before an integration reads their account, so the request starts with your store.

    1. 01

Request a key from Dutchie Support

Your store asks through the Dutchie support portal for a key for the Volty integration, with the permissions agreed.

    2. 02

      Confirm the location

Our team checks the key against Dutchie's whoami endpoint to see which store it reaches.

    3. 03

      Approve in Volty

An admin approves the custom connection once.

    4. 04

      Leave changes Off

Volty only reads from Dutchie. Ordering stays on your Dutchie menu.

    The tools Volty gets

Each one is a switch on the Sources page in Volty.

    • Look up a customerReads
    • Read store inventoryReads
    • Read a store's productsReads

Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes Dutchie starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

Where does the Dutchie API key come from?

Dutchie Support issues POS API keys through its support portal. Each key belongs to one integration and carries permission scopes, so your store requests one for Volty with the permissions you agree. Our team checks which location it reaches, builds the custom connection, and an admin approves it in Volty.

Can customers place a cannabis order through Volty?

No. Volty answers questions such as order readiness, store hours and whether a store carries a product, and points customers to your Dutchie online menu to order. It does not take orders or payments in the chat, and it passes questions about effects or use to your staff.

Can Volty tell a customer their order is ready?

No Dutchie page we checked documents order status in the POS API, so Volty does not read it. When a customer asks about an order, Volty passes the question and order number to that store's pickup counter, and a staff member answers in the same chat. Volty does read products and inventory, which the POS API documents.

How much does it cost to connect Dutchie with Volty?

Every Volty plan includes seats, active contacts and AI credits and starts with a free 7-day trial, and the plan prices are on voltade.com/pricing. Meta bills message charges separately for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
