Customer and gift card read through your store's API key

What Volty does with PHP Point of Sale

PHP Point of Sale is the web-based POS and inventory software retail stores and restaurants run their sales on. Our team connects your store to Volty through the PHP Point of Sale REST API, using an API key you create in Store Config. Customers ask whether an item is in stock or what is left on their gift card, and Volty answers from the item and the customer's record.

    • In stock right now

Volty checks the item's quantity at your location before telling a customer it is there.

    • Gift card balance

A customer gives the last digits of the card and Volty reads the balance.

    • A past receipt

Volty finds the sale by customer and date and sends the details when they need a copy.

    • Owners ask Volty

The owner asks in team chat for yesterday's totals and the items that ran low.

Shoppers in a small market, a man taking a loaf of bread from a wooden shelf.
Sourdough still on the shelf, checked against the item count.

    How did yesterday go

Before opening, the owner asks Volty how yesterday went.

How Volty connects to PHP Point of Sale

PHP Point of Sale documents a REST API over HTTPS on your own store URL, with an OpenAPI spec. Requests send an API key in the x-api-key header.

    1. 01

Create a key in Store Config

Go to Store Config, then API Settings, then API Keys, and create one for Volty.

    2. 02

      Agree the endpoints

Usually items, customers, gift cards and sales. Volty does not use charge_card.

    3. 03

      Approve

Our team builds the custom connection and an admin approves it once in Volty.

    4. 04

      Confirm the switches

All four tools read. Each is On, Check with staff, or Off.

    The tools Volty gets

Each one is a switch on the Sources page in Volty.

    • Look up an item's quantityReads
    • Look up a customerReads
    • Read a gift cardReads
    • Read a day's salesReads

Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes PHP Point of Sale starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

How do we give Volty access to PHP Point of Sale?

Create an API key in Store Config, under API Settings and API Keys. The PHP Point of Sale REST API runs on your own store URL and reads the key from the x-api-key header. You share the key with our team for the custom connection, and an admin approves it once in Volty.

Can customers check a gift card balance on WhatsApp?

Yes. The API exposes gift cards, so a customer gives the last digits of the card and Volty replies with the balance. Volty only reads the card and cannot add value or redeem it, which stays at your register.

Can the owner get yesterday's numbers without logging in?

Yes. A morning automation reads the previous day's sales and emails the owner the totals, top items and anything below its reorder level. During the day the owner can also ask Volty in team chat.

How much does it cost to connect PHP Point of Sale with Volty?

Every Volty plan includes seats, active contacts and AI credits and starts with a free 7-day trial, and the plan prices are on voltade.com/pricing. Meta bills message charges separately for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.

Sign up for our 7-day trial. No credit card needed.
