What Volty does with Heartland Retail

Heartland Retail is the cloud POS and inventory software specialty retailers run their stores on. Our team connects it to Volty with an API token created from a Heartland Retail user account, so Volty works within that user's permissions. Shoppers ask on Instagram or WhatsApp whether a store has their size, and Volty answers from inventory by location and passes a hold to the store.

    • Their size at their store

Inventory is read per item, size and location, so the shopper hears exactly which store has it.

    • Holds to the store

The store team gets the item, size and name in the thread and confirms the hold there.

    • Past purchases

Past tickets on the customer's record tell them which jacket or boot they bought before.

    • Staff ask Volty

A district manager asks how each location sold over the weekend.

How Volty connects to Heartland Retail

Heartland Retail's REST API runs on your own subdomain and takes a bearer token that a user generates. New OAuth app registrations are closed, so a user token is the route.

    1. 01

      Create a Volty user

Give a Heartland Retail user only the permissions Volty needs, since the token inherits them.

    2. 02

      Generate the token

From the top-right menu, open My Account, then API, then Generate New Token. Copy it, as it is shown once.

    3. 03

      Approve in Volty

Our team builds the custom connection and an admin approves it once.

    4. 04

      Check the tools

These tools only read. Each can still be set On, Check with staff, or Off.

    The tools Volty gets

Each one is a switch on the Sources page in Volty.

    • Look up an itemReads
    • Read inventory by locationReads
    • Read a customer's ticketsReads
    • Read sales by locationReads

Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes Heartland Retail starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

What does Volty need from our Heartland Retail account?

An API token. A user opens the top-right menu, then My Account, then API, and clicks Generate New Token. Every call runs with that user's permissions, so most retailers create a dedicated user with read access to items, inventory and customers. Our team builds the custom connection and an admin approves it in Volty.

Can Volty hold an item for a shopper?

Volty does not change inventory in Heartland Retail. When a shopper asks for a hold, Volty posts the item, size and name to the store team in the thread, and a colleague sets it aside and confirms. The shopper sees the confirmation in the same chat.

Can store managers ask Volty about sales?

Yes. A manager asks in Volty's team chat, for example how the weekend went by location, and Volty reads the sales data the token can see. It answers with the figures and does not post them anywhere else.

How much does it cost to connect Heartland Retail with Volty?

Every Volty plan includes seats, active contacts and AI credits and starts with a free 7-day trial, and the plan prices are on voltade.com/pricing. Meta bills message charges separately for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
