    Donately is an online donation and fundraising platform for nonprofits. Donately has a REST API with its own resend-receipt call, and our team connects Volty to it using the token in your Donately dashboard. Donors ask for last year's receipt or to raise a monthly gift, and Volty reads their donations and subscription before drafting the resend or the change.

    How Volty connects to Donately

    Donately's REST API lives at api.donately.com/v2 and accepts your API token with HTTP basic auth. Each call names the Donately account it is for, so our team scopes Volty's connection to your organization's account.

      An admin finds it in the Donately dashboard under Settings, then API.

      Fix the account and version

      Our team sets your account ID and the 2022-12-15 API version on every call.

      Choose people, donations and subscriptions

      Fundraisers, forms and campaign edits stay out unless you add them.

      Approve, then set the switches

      An admin approves the connection in Volty. Resending receipts and changing subscriptions start Off.

    Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes Donately starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

    Can Volty resend a Donately receipt by itself?

    Donately's API has a call that resends a donation's receipt email to the donor. Volty can use it once you switch the tool On. Until then it starts Off, and with Check with staff a team member approves each resend in Volty first.

    Where is the Donately API token?

    An admin finds it in the Donately dashboard under Settings, then API. The API takes the token with HTTP basic auth and needs the account ID on most calls. Our team builds Volty's connection with both, and a workspace admin approves it once before Volty reads a donation.

    Can donors change their monthly gift amount through Volty?

    Volty reads the donor's Donately subscription and can draft a new amount. Changing it is a write, so it is Off until you turn it on, and most teams choose Check with staff. Card updates stay on Donately's own donation form.
