    STACK and Volty

Contractors who estimate in STACK let Volty tell general contractors where a bid stands, and give project managers a takeoff quantity without opening the plans.

    What Volty does with STACK

STACK is cloud takeoff and estimating software where subcontractors and builders measure plans and price bids. Volty reads a project's estimate status so a general contractor emailing about a bid hears where it stands and when it will arrive. Project managers ask Volty in team chat for a quantity off a takeoff without opening the plans.

    • Bid status for GCs

The estimate's stage and the bid due date, read before Volty replies.

    • Quantities without the plans

Linear feet, square feet or counts from a takeoff item.

    • Invitations to bid captured

Plans that arrive by email become a draft project for an estimator.

    • New projects approved first

Creating a STACK project starts Off and can wait for a colleague.

    How Volty connects to STACK

STACK's API is an approved-partner API with OAuth 2.0 and a sandbox. Access starts with a request on STACK's developer site, and the Volty team sets Volty up from there as a custom connection to your STACK account.

    1. 01

      Request API access from STACK

STACK reviews requests within two business days and holds a kick-off call.

    2. 02

Build and test in the sandbox

Volty's calls are tried against a sandbox partner account before your live data.

    3. 03

      Authorize Volty on your account

Through STACK's OAuth flow, so Volty acts with the access you grant.

    4. 04

Approve and set switches in Volty

An admin approves the connection once. Each tool is On, Check with staff, or Off.

    The tools Volty gets

Each one is a switch on the Sources page in Volty.

    • Find projectReads
    • Read takeoff quantitiesReads
    • Read estimate statusReads
    • Draft new projectChanges

Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes STACK starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

Does STACK give API access to any account?

No. STACK's API is for approved partners. You or our team request access on STACK's developer site, STACK reviews it within two business days and holds a kick-off call, and work starts in a sandbox. Your account then authorizes Volty through STACK's OAuth 2.0 flow.

Can Volty read the takeoff quantities on my plans?

Yes, for the projects you agree to share. Volty reads takeoff items and their quantities, such as linear feet of base or square feet of drywall, and gives the number with the project name. It does not measure plans or change a takeoff.

Will Volty send a bid price to a general contractor?

Only if you set it up that way. In the example, Volty tells the GC the estimate is in review and when to expect it. Sharing a price is a decision for your estimator, and you can keep estimate totals out of what Volty reads.

How much does it cost to connect STACK with Volty?

Every Volty plan includes seats, active contacts and AI credits and starts with a free 7-day trial, and the plan prices are on voltade.com/pricing. Meta bills message charges separately for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
