    Shopmonkey and Volty

Car owners question a brake estimate or a card payment, and Volty reads the Shopmonkey work order and invoice, then brings in the service writer when needed.

    What Volty does with Shopmonkey

Shopmonkey is auto repair shop management software for estimates, work orders, invoicing, scheduling and payments. Volty reads Shopmonkey through an API key your admin creates, scoped by that user's permissions. A driver asks what the $684 brake estimate includes and gets the lines and labor back, payment questions are checked against the invoice, and anything needing judgment goes to the service writer by name.

    • Estimate lines explained

Each part, fluid and labor line is read from the Shopmonkey order.

    • Payments confirmed

Card payments and the balance due are checked against the invoice.

    • Booking from open times

Volty offers the shop's free times and books the one picked.

    • Key follows a role

The API key acts with its creator's permissions, so a narrow role limits Volty.

    How Volty connects to Shopmonkey

Shopmonkey's v3 API takes a key created in the shop's own settings. Our team builds the Volty connection around it, and your admin approves the result before any customer question is answered from it.

    1. 01

      Pick the user

The key inherits that person's permissions, so choose a role that covers only orders, customers and appointments.

    2. 02

      Create the key

Under Settings, Integration, API Keys. Shopmonkey shows it once, so it goes straight into our setup form.

    3. 03

      Agree the tools

Estimates, invoices and payments to read, and whether appointment booking may write.

    4. 04

      Approve and switch

An admin approves the connection, and booking stays Off until you turn it on.

    The tools Volty gets

Each one is a switch on the Sources page in Volty.

    • Find customer by phoneReads
    • Read estimate linesReads
    • Check invoice paymentsReads
    • Show free baysReads
    • Book appointmentChanges

Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes Shopmonkey starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

Where is the Shopmonkey API key created?

A Shopmonkey admin creates it under Settings, Integration, API Keys. The key carries the permissions of the person who made it and is shown only once, so we suggest creating it from a user whose role covers just what Volty needs, then pasting it straight into the setup form.

Can customers approve an estimate through Volty?

Volty explains what each line on the estimate covers and the total, then offers a call from the service writer. Approval itself stays with your team in Shopmonkey, so the person who knows the car makes that conversation.

Does this replace Shopmonkey's own customer texting?

No. Shopmonkey keeps sending the messages you already set up there. Volty covers the questions that arrive on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, the website chat and email, and staff see each reply in the same inbox.

How much does it cost to connect Shopmonkey with Volty?

Every Volty plan includes seats, active contacts and AI credits and starts with a free 7-day trial, and the plan prices are on voltade.com/pricing. Meta bills message charges separately for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
