    GiveWP and Volty

Nonprofits running GiveWP on their own WordPress site let donors check a gift or report a double charge on web chat, while Volty reads the donations and flags refunds for staff.

    What Volty does with GiveWP

GiveWP is the donation and fundraising plugin for WordPress, keeping the donation forms, donors and gifts on the nonprofit's own site. Because GiveWP runs inside your own WordPress site, our team connects Volty to your site's GiveWP API with keys generated for one WordPress user. Donors ask on web chat or WhatsApp whether a gift reached the right fund or whether they gave twice, and Volty reads the donations on the form to answer.

    • Down to the minute

Donation times show a double gift two minutes apart.

    • Form equals fund

Each GiveWP form maps to a fund, so the donor hears the fund name.

    • Your site, your data

Donations stay in your WordPress database. Volty reads them through the API.

    • Refunds by a person

Volty flags the duplicate, and a staff member issues the refund.

    How Volty connects to GiveWP

GiveWP ties its API keys to a WordPress user. By default no user can generate them, so a site admin first enables the capability, then creates keys for the user Volty will act as.

    1. 01

      Enable key generation

In WordPress, open Users > Your Profile, find Give API Keys, tick Generate API Key and save.

    2. 02

Generate keys for a Volty user

On the API tab of GiveWP settings, enter a dedicated user's name and click Generate New API Keys.

    3. 03

Share the site address and keys

Our team builds the connection to your WordPress site's GiveWP API and tests it on a recent donation.

    4. 04

      Site owner approves

A workspace admin approves the connection. Refund requests start Off.

    The tools Volty gets

Each one is a switch on the Sources page in Volty.

    • Find donorReads
    • List donor's donationsReads
    • Read form and fundReads
    • Flag refund for staffChanges

Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes GiveWP starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

Does Volty need a plugin on our WordPress site?

No extra plugin. Volty reads GiveWP through the API that GiveWP already provides on your site. A site admin enables API key generation under Users > Your Profile, then generates keys for a dedicated user on GiveWP's API tab. Our team builds the connection with those keys and your site address.

Can Volty refund a duplicate GiveWP donation?

No. Volty can see two gifts minutes apart and flag the second one for your team, but the refund is issued by a staff member through your payment gateway. The flag is a tool that starts Off; most teams set it to Check with staff.

Which WordPress user should the keys belong to?

Create a dedicated user for Volty, give it only the role it needs, and generate GiveWP keys for that user. Then revoking that one user's keys cuts Volty off without touching staff logins, and the keys never belong to someone who might leave.

How much does it cost to connect GiveWP with Volty?

Every Volty plan includes seats, active contacts and AI credits and starts with a free 7-day trial, and the plan prices are on voltade.com/pricing. Meta bills message charges separately for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.
