    What Volty does with GitLab

GitLab holds a team's code, issues, merge requests and milestones. Volty connects to GitLab with one sign-in. It can read issues and merge requests in the projects the sign-in can see, so a client asking whether their fix is live hears where it stands, and the delivery team can ask Volty what is left in a milestone.

    • Is the fix in

Volty reads the merge request and its milestone before it answers.

    • Milestones at a glance

Colleagues ask Volty what is still open for a release.

    • Requests become issues

A client's request can become an issue in their project.

    • Approval on every write

Writes start Off, and each can be set to wait for a colleague.

    As an automation

Describe it to Volty in a sentence; it drafts the automation and an admin turns it on.

    1. When

A client asks for a change

      On WhatsApp

    2. Step 1

      Volty takes the details

      What, where, how urgent

    3. Step 2

    How Volty connects to GitLab

An admin signs in to GitLab from the Sources page. The sign-in decides which projects Volty can see, and the tool switches decide what it may do.

    1. 01

      Sign in to GitLab

With the account whose projects Volty should see.

    2. 02

      Turn on the reads

      Issues, merge requests and milestones.

    3. 03

      Choose the writes

Create issue and comment start Off.

    The tools Volty gets

Each one is a switch on the Sources page in Volty.

    • Search issuesReads
    • Read merge requestsReads
    • Read milestonesReads
    • Create issueChanges
    • Comment on issueChanges

Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes GitLab starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

Can Volty change records in GitLab?

Only when an admin allows it. Every tool has its own switch: tools that only read can be turned on, and tools that change a record start Off. A tool that is on can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague to approve it.

How much does it cost to connect GitLab with Volty?
