What Volty does with Action Network

Action Network is the organizing toolkit progressive groups use for petitions, events, email and fundraising. Action Network treats API keys as a partner feature, and each group has its own key, so our team connects Volty with the key for your group once you have API access. Supporters ask where the town hall is or whether their petition signature went through, and Volty reads the event or signature to reply.

    • Where and when, from the event

Start time, venue and host come from the Action Network event page.

    • Plus-ones counted

An RSVP with a guest is drafted for an organizer to confirm.

    • Signature check

Volty confirms a supporter's own petition signature and its date.

    • Reporters reach a person

Media and coalition asks are assigned to a named organizer.

How Volty connects to Action Network

Action Network's v2 API follows the OSDI standard. API keys and webhooks are a partner feature, and every user account and group has its own key, generated on the API & Sync page.

    1. 01

      Get partner access

If your group does not have API access yet, contact Action Network to become a partner.

    2. 02

      Generate the group's key

On the API & Sync page, choose the group and generate its key. You can revoke and regenerate it there.

    3. 03

      Choose the resources

Events, attendances, petitions and signatures. Email stats and donations are left out unless you ask.

    4. 04

Approve and set the RSVP switch

An admin approves the connection in Volty. Adding an RSVP starts Off.

    The tools Volty gets

Each one is a switch on the Sources page in Volty.

    • Find supporter by emailReads
    • Read event detailsReads
    • Check petition signatureReads
    • Add attendance (RSVP)Changes

Reading tools can be turned on straight away. Anything that changes Action Network starts Off, and once on it can be set to check with staff, so each change waits for a colleague.

    Common questions

Does our group need Action Network partner access?

Yes. Action Network treats API keys and webhooks as a partner feature, so a group without API access contacts Action Network first. After that, the group's key is generated on the API & Sync page, and our team builds Volty's connection with it. A workspace admin approves the connection once.

If we run several groups, does each need its own key?

Each Action Network user account and group has a separate API key, and a key only reaches that group's data. If Volty should answer for two chapters, our team connects each chapter's key and agrees with you which chapter's events each channel answers about.

Can Volty add an RSVP for a supporter?

Volty can draft the attendance on the event, including a plus-one. Adding it is a change, so it starts Off. Set it On, or to Check with staff so an organizer approves each RSVP before Volty writes it to Action Network.

How much does it cost to connect Action Network with Volty?

Every Volty plan includes seats, active contacts and AI credits and starts with a free 7-day trial, and the plan prices are on voltade.com/pricing. Meta bills message charges separately for WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.

Sign up for our 7-day trial. No credit card needed.
