What is a WhatsApp Official Business Account?
A WhatsApp Official Business Account is a business account that Meta has granted a green verified badge, which appears next to the business name in the chat header and in search results.
What the badge means.
The green tick tells a customer that Meta has confirmed this account belongs to the business it claims to be. It is a trust signal, nothing more: it does not raise your messaging limits, change your pricing, or unlock features. Its practical value is that people are more willing to reply to, and less likely to report, a message from an account that has visibly been checked.
How Meta decides.
Official Business Account status is granted at Meta's discretion, based on how notable and well known the brand is. Signals include press coverage and an established public presence, not company size or how much you spend on messaging. It cannot be bought, and there is no queue you can pay to skip. Most SMEs will not qualify, and that is normal rather than a sign anything is wrong.
