What is the WhatsApp Business API?

The WhatsApp Business API lets businesses send and receive WhatsApp messages programmatically — enabling automation, AI agents, CRM integrations, and multi-agent support at scale.

    WhatsApp Business App vs API.

The free WhatsApp Business App is designed for small businesses: one phone, manual replies, basic labels. The API is for businesses that need scale: automated responses, multiple team members, CRM integration, and AI-powered conversations. The API doesn't have its own interface — it's a backend service that connects to your tools.

What you can do with it.

Send automated replies to customer messages. Route conversations to the right team member. Connect WhatsApp to your CRM, booking system, or e-commerce platform. Deploy AI agents that handle enquiries 24/7. Send template messages (order confirmations, appointment reminders, delivery updates). Track conversation analytics. All while using your official business number.

    How to get started.

You need a Meta Business account and a phone number dedicated to WhatsApp Business. You can either connect through a Business Solution Provider (BSP) like us, or set up directly through Meta's Cloud API. BSPs handle the technical setup, compliance, and ongoing management. Most businesses in Singapore go through a BSP because the setup and maintenance overhead isn't worth doing in-house.

    The Voltade take

WhatsApp is the dominant messaging channel in Singapore. We build AI agents that sit on top of the WhatsApp Business API — handling enquiries, bookings, and support in multiple languages, 24/7. The API is the plumbing; our agents are the intelligence layer.
