What is a WhatsApp Business Solution Provider?

A WhatsApp Business Solution Provider (BSP) is a company approved by Meta to set businesses up on the WhatsApp Business API and to handle their onboarding, message delivery and billing.

    What a BSP actually does.

A BSP registers your phone number, gets your business verified with Meta, submits and manages your message templates, delivers your messages, and bills you for them. Most also provide the software your team looks at: a shared inbox, contact records, broadcast tools, reporting. In practice the BSP is the layer between your business and Meta, and it is who you contact when a number gets flagged or a template gets rejected.

    BSP or direct with Meta.

Since Meta launched the Cloud API, a business with developers can connect directly and pay Meta for messages. That removes a middleman but leaves you owning verification, template management, webhook infrastructure and support. Going through a BSP costs a margin on messages, or a platform fee, in exchange for someone handling that work. Neither route changes the underlying rules: same templates, same session window, same limits.

What to check before you pick one.

Ask who owns the WhatsApp Business Account, and insist it is you, not the provider. Ask whether you can move your number to a different provider later without losing your history and templates. Ask how message pricing is marked up. Ask what happens at three in the morning when your number's quality rating drops. A cheap rate matters far less than being able to leave and being able to get help.

    The Voltade take

Voltade is not a BSP. We build the agent and the workflow that sit on top of whichever provider you use, and we make sure the account, the number and the templates stay in your name. That way the automation we build travels with you if you ever change providers.
