    What is the difference between no-code and low-code?

    No-code and low-code are two ways of building software with less hand-written code: no-code tools assemble everything visually, while low-code tools use a visual builder but still let a developer drop into code where needed.

    The simple explanation.

    No-code tools let you assemble something by dragging boxes and filling in forms: a website builder, a form tool, an automation canvas that joins two apps. Low-code tools give you the same visual builder but leave a door open for a developer to write a snippet where the visual pieces run out. The real difference is not technical, it is about who maintains the result. No-code targets the business user, low-code assumes someone technical will occasionally be involved.

    What they are genuinely good at.

    Speed on the ordinary. Internal forms, approval routing, notifications, a simple sync between two systems, a landing page. If the requirement is standard and the volume is modest, a no-code tool gets you there in days and your team can adjust it without waiting on anyone. Many businesses should start here, because it costs little to try and it teaches you what you actually need before anyone commits to a build.

    Where they stop being enough.

    Three walls show up. Cost, because per-task pricing that looks trivial at a hundred runs a month is not trivial at fifty thousand. Complexity, because branching logic in a visual canvas becomes unreadable long before it becomes wrong. And ownership, because the person who built it leaves and nobody can work out how it runs. When a workflow is core to how you make money, that is usually the moment to build properly.
