WhatsApp Business Verified - But Can't Send Messages

You completed Meta's Business Verification process. But you're still getting errors when trying to send WhatsApp messages.

Business Verification and messaging ability are separate processes. Completing verification is a prerequisite for certain features; it doesn't automatically mean you can send messages.

Think of verification as getting a business license. It proves you're a real business, but it doesn't set up your phone line, hire your staff, or stock your shelves. There are several other pieces that need to be in place before messages actually send.

Run through these in order. Stop at the first one that applies.

    1. Is Your Display Name Approved?

Business Verification != Display Name Approval (these are two separate reviews by Meta).

    • Check: Go to WhatsApp Manager > Phone Numbers > Check display name status
    • If pending: Wait 24-72 hours. See our display name guide
    • If rejected: Resubmit a compliant name

    2. Is Your Quality Rating OK?

Even verified accounts get restricted if their quality rating drops.

    3. Are Your Message Templates Approved?

Outside the 24-hour customer service window, you need pre-approved templates to send messages.

    • Check: Go to WhatsApp Manager > Message Templates
    • If no templates exist: Create and submit at least one
    • If templates are pending: Wait for Meta approval (typically under 24 hours)
    • If templates were rejected: Review the rejection reason and resubmit

    4. Is a Payment Method Configured?

Template messages and broadcasts require a valid payment method in your Meta Business account.

    • Check: Go to Meta Business Suite > Billing > Payment Methods
    • If no payment method: Add one. See our payment method guide

    5. Is the Phone Number Fully Provisioned?

After verification, your phone number may need additional provisioning time to become active on the Cloud API.

    • Check: Does your WhatsApp platform show the number as connected and active?
    • If not connected: Try reconnecting through your platform's channel setup
    • If connected but sends fail: The issue is likely one of the above (display name, quality, templates, or payment)

If you've checked everything above and messages still fail, the issue may be account-specific. Collect the following before contacting support:

    1
  1. Your Meta Business ID
  2. 2
  3. The phone number in question
  4. 3
  5. Which error message or code you're seeing (if any)
  6. 4
  7. Screenshots of your display name status, quality rating, and template list
  8. Tell us what you need
