WhatsApp Error #200: No Permission to Send Messages

This error prevents you from sending messages through the WhatsApp Business API due to account permission issues.

    Error Message

"(#200) You do not have the necessary permissions required to send messages on behalf of this WhatsApp Business Account"

    Why This Happens

    This error typically occurs when:

  1. The API integration is not properly authorized
  2. Coexistence mode has permission conflicts
  3. The system token needs to be updated
  4. Facebook account permissions are incorrectly configured

  5. How to Fix This Error

    For Coexistence Flow Users

If you're using WhatsApp Coexistence (using both WhatsApp Business App and Cloud API):

    1. Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account on the WhatsApp Business App

    2. Recreate the WhatsApp Business Account

    3. Perform the onboarding process again through Envoy

    For Non-Coexistence Flow Users

If you're using Cloud API only:

    1. Generate a new system token from Meta Business Suite

    2. Replace the existing inbox API key with the new system token

    3. Test sending a message to verify the fix

    Workaround 1: Adjust Admin Access

    1. Invite the Facebook account as an admin with partial access to the business portfolio

    2. Perform the WhatsApp onboarding after the invitation is accepted

    3. This can resolve permission inheritance issues

Workaround 2: Reset Business Tools Connection

    1. Go to Facebook Business Tools Settings

    2. Find your WhatsApp number in the list

    3. Untick/disconnect the WhatsApp number

    4. Re-perform the onboarding process

    Prevention Tips

  6. Use system tokens instead of user access tokens for production
  7. Ensure the admin account has full control in Meta Business Suite
  8. Regularly verify permissions after any account changes
