## How Meta bills WhatsApp calls in 2026

### Calls to you are free

Meta never charges for a call a customer makes to your business.

### What is billed

- Only calls your business places.
- By the minute, in six-second pulses.
- At the rate of the country you call.

A part pulse counts as a whole one, so a 56-second call is billed as one minute.

### Volume tiers

Each country has its own tiers, by the minutes you call there in a month. Minutes past a threshold are cheaper, and the count resets every month.

### Where calling works

Customers can call you wherever the WhatsApp Business Platform works. Business numbers from United States, Canada, Egypt, Vietnam and Nigeria cannot place calls.

## Frequently asked questions

###

No. Meta does not charge for calls a customer makes to a business, in any market.

###

By duration, at a per-minute rate set by the country code of the number you call. Meta counts each call in six-second pulses and rounds a part pulse up, so a 56-second call is billed as 10 pulses, one minute.

###

Meta prices a call by how long it lasts and publishes no charge for a call nobody picks up. You need a valid payment method on the account before you can place calls at all.

###

Yes. Each country has its own tiers, counted by business-initiated minutes in the calendar month and reset each month. Minutes past a threshold are cheaper, and a call that crosses a threshold is priced entirely at the cheaper rate.

###

Yes. You ask with a call permission request, sent as a normal reply inside the 24-hour window or as a template outside it, and charged like any message. A customer can allow calls for 7 days or permanently, you can send at most one request in 24 hours and two in 7 days, and a business number can connect up to 100 calls a day with one customer.

###

After two unanswered calls in a row, WhatsApp asks the customer whether to keep allowing your calls. After four, the permission is taken away, and the customer can grant it again if they want to.

###

No. Calls are charged per minute on Meta's calling card and messages per message on its messaging card. A customer calling you, or answering your call, opens or restarts the 24-hour window for messages.

###

Customers can call a business in every country where the WhatsApp Business Platform works. Businesses can place calls from numbers in those countries except the United States, Canada, Egypt, Vietnam and Nigeria, and can call customers in any of them.

###

Use the calculator above: choose the country you call, where your business number is registered and how many business-initiated minutes you expect a month. It applies Meta's tiers for that country and shows the monthly total and what the tiers save.
